Microbiome and FMT with Dr Johan Van Den Bogaerde - Part 2
Dr Johan Van Den Bogaerde completed his undergraduate training in South Africa, with postgraduate training in the United Kingdom at Cambridge, St. Mark’s and Hammersmith Hospitals. He is interested in the gut microbiome, and recently completed a trial looking at FMT (fecal microbiota transplantation) in patients with ulcerative colitis, with encouraging results.
Dr Van Den Bogaerde believes Gastroenterology is an exciting and important field. He has very broad interests, including the study of the microbiome, esophageal pathology, motility disturbances, inflammatory bowel disease and functional bowel disease.
He performs general, interventional and hepatobiliary procedures at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, where he has been in practice for the past four years.
Dr Van Den Bogaerde's interests include developing new techniques, particularly interventional endoscopic techniques. He works closely with a strong team of surgical colleagues at Sunshine Coast University Private Hospital, including Physicians, Renal Physicians and Cardiologists.
